Reading at Home

Reading at Home

The most important thing each child can do at home is reading. At an early age, this will mean sharing books with parents.

Children will be given several books throughout their reading journey.

  • Library Books - These are for you to read to your child and promote a love of reading.
  • RWI Books - These are black and white story books, which match books the children have read in school, and a matching Book Bag Book. These books can be read by your child.
  • Enrichment Books - Once your child is reading Grey RWI books, they will be provided with an enrichment book which will allow them to read a wider breadth of books. These books can be read by your child.
  • REN Reading - Once your child is REN Reader, they will read a levelled REN book. Your child can read this to you. These books can be read by your child.

We encourage reading to be completed every day to support fluency and comprehension. Here is a recommended, daily amount:

Years 1 & 2

Years 3 & 4
