Decembar 2024
During December, Prince Rock will be taking part in a series of 'Decembar' challenges. There are 5 brand-new problems for children (and adults) to solve every day in December. The children will be challenged to solve the different problems using the bar model. They might do it as early morning work, in their maths lessons or as part of their homework! It was great to see lots of entries last year for Decembar so this year we are celebrating this through entering submitted problems into a prize raffle. If your child would like to be in with a chance to win a prize, please send completed challenges with your name and class on them to Miss Down (Maths Lead). Watch this space to find out who our winners are!

England Rocks Competition 2024
We're celebrating Maths Week England by taking part in a friendly times tables (and division) competition. It's all done online via play.ttrockstars.com.
Children can play in any game mode with every correct answer to a multiplication or division question, earning themselves, their class and the school a point. The Times Tables Rock Stars platform will calculate the class average (the number of correct answers per pupil in the class who play during the competition hours, subject to a daily 60-minute limit (see below). Winning classes in the school and in the competition as a whole will be the ones with the highest average.
To support player wellbeing, there is a daily time limit of 60-minutes per player. In other words, each player can earn competition points for up to 60-minutes between 07:30 GMT and 19:30 GMT on 07:30 GMT Monday 12th November to 19:30 GMT Wednesday 14th November. Once the player goes beyond 60-minutes of play on that day, they will still earn coins but will no longer earn points towards the competition.
In the spirit of the competition, please don't play on their behalf but by all means encourage and support them to the extent that it doesn't cause high stress levels or impact on family plans.

Why not enter the amazing Maths Eyes photo competition?
Simply, take a photograph or use/draw a picture of any maths in the world around you – from number, shape, fractions to angles or patterns.
Please create a Maths Eyes style poster using a photograph/picture taken either at home or from your local area. Then add an accompanying question or tagline highlighting the mathematics that you have seen in the image using your maths eyes.
All entries must be in the school on/before Friday 8th November. Please ensure you write your name and class on the back of the entry.

NumBots 2024
It is wonderful to see that KS1 have been improving on their automatic recall of addition and subtraction using NumBots. It is great to see the children so enthusiastic about their maths!
