English – Session 5 – Writing a non-chronological report.
Today, you are going to use what you have learnt this week to write your own non-chronological report. If you would like to, you can recap the first session again to remind yourself all about what non-chronological reports are and their features by clicking on the link below.

English – Session 4 - formal conjunctions
Please click on the link below to access the English lesson from Oak Academy. This will take you to a video. You need to watch the video and then complete the task set.

Task: The tasks asks you to write 3 pairs of sentences which are joined by formal conjunctions. It asks you to link your sentences to the text that has previously been explored called Anglerfish. As we haven’t explored this text, you can make your sentences about anything. Look at the example below to help you.

Interestingly, Elephants have extremely long, grey trunks they use for eating. As a result, they are able to reach leaves from tall trees, which other animals cannot reach.

As well as this, please could you have a look at the attached PDF file British Sign Language Jingle Bells. In this document, you will find the signs for specific words in the song. Have a go at practising them whilst singing ready for our practises at school. We are going to learn the sign language to this song at school!

Task: There are several mini tasks throughout the video. The task at the end of the video asks you to write the spellings down and learn them. Can you ask an adult to test you after you’ve practised them?

Scientific investigation: Using objects around your home and a source of light (lamp, torch, torch on a phone etc.), can you create 3 different shadows? Can you draw you the shadows you’ve created in your homework book?

We hope you are all well at home. Before we left on Friday, we discussed that we would be uploading home learning for you to complete each day. This is now accessible through Teams and through the school website. We will be uploading English, Whole Class Reading and Maths each day with a short PE session and a foundation subject. Today, it is Geography. 

Please make sure you have a go at each task. You can complete any tasks in your homework books.

This week, we are going to be exploring Diary entries

Lesson 1- Read through this week's English Text below, then complete the Key activity, by highlighting the structural and language features within the text. 

Lesson 2- Today, our main objective is to be able to use capital letters and full stops correctly. Access the powerpoint below and work through it, helping Mr Whoops to fix his sentences. Once you have done this, open the lesson 2 file and rewrite the sentences using your knowledge of capital letters and full stops.

Lesson 4 - Today, I would like you to write a diary entry about a birthday party. Tell me what happened, who was there. 

Lesson 5 - Can you edit your diary entry? Check for capital letters, full stops. Can you use a thesaurus to improve some word choices? Publish your writing using your best handwriting.
