The morning session will start at 9:35 AM and the afternoon session will start at 1:15 PM. We look forward to seeing you all (with adult support).

As we are only at home for one day, we have given each of the children a paper copy of the learning for today. You will have a writing activity, a maths activity, calculations, and a geography research task.

English

Writing

For the last few weeks we have been exploring the story of Sally and the Limpet by Simon James. This week we are thinking about how to write our own finding stories. For your writing activity today can you practise all of the skills you need to write super sentences? We would especially like you to have a go at using words which end in -ing and -ed. Don’t forget to use adjectives and conjunctions to make your writing interesting.

Practise writing this weeks spellings. They are: it, it’s, just, Mrs, Mr, made

Can you try to use the conjunction but in all of your sentences today? A conjunction is a word that joins sentences together like ‘and’ or ‘but’.

For example: I have got a younger brother but he is bigger than me.

Maths

  • Your Maths activity today is to recap of the unit measure. There are some questions for you to complete on your paper. Can you measure any other objects in your house? Can you compare any objects in your house using the words smaller and taller? Do you have a ruler? Can you measure using your hands?
  • Don’t forget we also have access to Numbots! Go on to your Numbots game webpage and work your way through the tasks. This will really help develop your Maths skills. Earn coins to spend decorating your robots! We can’t wait to see all of them.  https://play.numbots.com/#/intro
  • An extra activity today is to complete addition and subtraction calculations. Remember to put the number in your head and then count forwards for addition and backwards for subtraction.

Phonics

Geography

This afternoon your task is to create a poster all about the planets in our solar system. What interesting facts can you find out?

Here is a great song to help you… https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mQrlgH97v94
