Multi-Skills Event

On Wednesday 4th March 2020, 12 of our Year 1 and 2 children took part in an inter-school competition taking part in a range of events. Here is a message from our organiser -

“Today we had the FIRST EVER PSSP KS1 Indoor Athletics competition. Eggbuckland CC hosted to 9 schools, who raced, jumped, balanced and threw their way to collect lots of points for their team.

Each young athlete had to balance on one leg on the beam for as long as they could. The other field events were also Chest push, Standing long jump and Soft Javelin.

On the track the teams raced in the over/under relay, 4 lap parlauf, 1+1 and 4x1 lap relay. All of these events were scored and each team were given points based on how they did.

It was lovely to see so many smiley KS1 children giving athletics a go and cheering on their team mates. From the noise it sounded like you had a good morning!

Thank you to the leaders from Eggbuckland for their help in running the event.”

On Tuesday 10th December a team of KS1 children competed in the KS1 multi-skills festival at Lipson. They tried so hard with their balancing, throwing, running, catching, hopping, jumping. Evie was especially fantastic and managed to balance for triple the time of any of the other children at the event! They showed great determination and supported each other during each event.

On Tuesday 19th November a team of KS1 children competed in the KS1 multi-skills festival at Coombe Dean. They tried so hard with their balancing, throwing, running, catching, hopping, jumping and they came 1st overall. A fantastic achievement as there were over 80 children at the event and 10 other teams to compete against.

A message from the organiser of the event:

“Balancing, throwing, running, catching, hopping, jumping - we did it all at the KS1 Multiskills festival held at Coombe Dean.

80 children from Prince Rock, Goosewell, Elburton, Yealmpstone Farm, Mary Dean's, Hooe, Pomphlett, Weston Mill, Oreston and Wembury took part in a FUNS based festival giving them all a chance to develop skills and compete to score the highest number of points.

Prince Rock were the overall winners with 192 points followed closely by Hooe and Mary Dean's.  It was lovely to see so many enthusiastic and happy children all eager to participate!”
