Lipson Indoor Athletics 2017
Well done to our children who came 3rd and received a bronze medal in the Lipson Academy Indoor Athletics event. Here is an overview of the event from the PSSP:
"The first of our annual Indoor Athletics heats went underway last night at Lipson Co-operative Academy with 4 teams competing; Salisbury Road, High View, Prince Rock and Mount Street. The girls took to the track first racing and producing some very fast times, setting the standard for the rest of the evening. Meanwhile, the boys were on the field events getting some phenomenal scores, starting with Long and Triple jump for the girls to compete against later. Then it was time to swap over with the boys on the track and the girls in the field events, competing to their best to gain valuable points for their teams. The competition was tight with lots of support from team members throughout. It certainly wasn’t a quiet event! Despite a slight change to the field events, it didn’t stop the competitiveness of teams to finish with a very close obstacle race finale.
The last track event, the obstacle race is probably the most difficult but the most fun! In teams of 4 the young athletes have to complete a series of obstacles up and down the sports hall in the same relay format. The noise from spectators cheering on their teams was incredible.
A huge well done to all those who competed and congratulations to our winners Salisbury Road, who will advance to the next level. Also a big thank you to all members of staff, students form Marjons and Leaders from Lipson for making each event run so fantastically."
