On Thursday 14th November a group of 11 children from years 5 and 6 took part in a cross schools indoor athletics event. There were a range of activities including: relay, hurdles and throwing. We finished in 5th place after a fantastic effort from all of the children. One of the children loved the event so much they asked when we could do it again!
A message from the organisers of the event:
“Lipson Cooperative Academy were next to host the penultimate round of indoor athletics heats. We had teams from; Salisbury Road A, Salisbury Road B, Prince Rock, High View, Laira Green and Lipson Vale.
As always the girls were up first on the track competing in the 1+1 lap relay and the 6 lap Paarlauf setting some very quick times. Meanwhile the boys were starting their field events, competing in the standing long jump and the standing triple jump trying to gain some vital points for their teams. Next up it was the boys turn to take to the track whilst the girls got started on their field events, trying to gain vital points for their teams because it was so close.Throughout the event it was neck and neck, there was only 2 points seperating the top two teams!
A huge well done to everyone that took part in the event; you were all fantastic showing great sportsmanship and athletic ability. Thank you to all the Young Leaders that helped run the event smoothly and the Marjon students for helping with the event. In the end we had a tie for 1st place, Salisbury Road A and High View sharing the gold medal; congratulations to both teams!”
